In the animal kingdom the big five rule and run the jungle, but what people don't understand is that those predators (lion, rhino, elephant etc..) are all vastly becoming haunted with the fear of endangerment and possible extinction in the future. But The Meerkat manages to stay strong multiply and carry on its reign in the desert/kingdom, thats what we see when we look back not only in our lives but in the lives of many skaters in South Africa, the willingness to keep expressing yourself through this beautifull artform we call skateboarding. How to get sponsored by MEERKAT GRIND (PTY) Ltd

1. The first step in your attempt to get sponsored by MEERKAT GRIND is your practising:

• Practice everyday, as much as you can, if you are new to the skateboarding, first learn the basics and then work you way up. Once you can flawlessly handle the skateboard, you must learn tricks. Start with the Ollie, and then start adding twist to that if you can develop your own tricks

2. Enter local skateboarding competition

• With your constant and steady practice, you should do well, so come out on top. If you cannot win any competitions, you need to practice harder. This can be frustrating but you must keep at it if you hope to attain sponsorship. Frequently visit your local skate shop to stay updated about competitions and events.

3. Once you have achieved wins in national/local skateboard events, people may begin to notice you

• Representatives of MEERKAT GRIND may approach you but if they do not, you must keep competing, and even get your name out there to sponsors like MEERKAT GRIND. Contact the company and reveal your impressive skateboarding skills.

4. Create a riding video

• MG (MEERKAT GRIND) managers are only interested in sponsoring talented riders. When you try to get sponsored by MG, you will need to create a riding video. Your riding video should contain footage of you riding while you are wearing MG gear. Be sure to provide footage of yourself in various angles so the MG guys can get a feel for your talent ( footage can be street or skate park.) it wont hurt to take a few minutes at the end of your riding video to discuss why MG should sponsor you

5. Mail your video to MG

• The final step in trying to get sponsored by MG is mailing your riding video to MG at skategrind3@gmail.com

TIP: To show that you are committed to being sponsored by MG, follow up with managers, a couple of weeks after you have mailed your sponsorship information.

MEERKAT GRIND UNVEILS THE GRIND RANGE AT THE MALOOF KIMBERLY LEG

Meerkat Grind will be at Kimberly South Africa on the 28^th to the 30^th of September for the Maloof Money cup skateboarding competition. There will be sales reps at the skate village (park) that will be selling the grind range T-shirts. This will mark the first public appearance for the official Meerkat Grind exclusive range of T-shirts. Meerkat Grind is a company that will try and facilitate change and an increase of skate dominance amongst the youth in South Africa before spreading out to the whole continent. Investors are encouraged to take note and engage with the company in a professional level as this will be an opportunity to grow the brand to greater heights.

We are proud to announce that this is an initiative that the company has engaged in for the past year and the grind range has been a product of significance for the company. We urge skaters and action sports enthusiasts to take control of the revolution. The t-shirt will be available soon in stores after the Maloof money cup competition has commenced.

MEERKAT GRIND FUTURE PLANS

1. Skater sponsoring

Meerkat Grind is embarking on several initiatives that will see the skate environment in South Africa grow. Sponsorships are a vital key to an athlete’s career opening up opportunities for a talented individual to establish him/her self as a professional skater. We as Meerkat Grind are taking the responsibility of giving South African Skate enthusiasts a chance to break in the industry. Sponsoring season will begin soon which will aim on positioning the skate culture in South Africa to international standards. There is tremendous potential in being sponsored as an action sports athlete because the biggest skate opportunities and competitions in the world widely regard sponsored skaters. The standard will be judged at a very demanding performance level as these skaters (skate team) might have an opportunity to engage in big competitions like the Street league series qualifiers, Maloof Money cup series, Dew Tour or even the X Games if they really work hard. Skaters should follow Meerkat grind on twitter and blogspot.com for further notice on the upcoming news related to sponsorships.

2. Skate competitions

Owing to the growth in skateboarding we as Meerkat Grind are planning on hosting skate competitions for the development of the skate culture in South Africa. Grinders have to bear in mind that competitions will be organised depending on the skate population growth and support in the interest of the organisation. These competitions will highlight the level of skateboarding in South Africa as international investors and prominent skateboarding movers and shakers will be present.

3. MEERKAT GRIND; GRIND TO HIT THE STORES SOON…

NB: THE SUMMER COLLECTION WILL COMPRISE OF T-SHIRTS RANGING FROM BLACK, WHITE, RED, BLUE, GREEN AND YELLOW. THIS WILL BE THE FIRST RANGE OF APPAREL FROM THE CLOTHING LINE. DESIGNERS HAVE BEEN FOCUSING IN THE PRODUCTION PROCESS OF THE GRIND RANGE FOR A WHILE. THE T-SHIRTS HAVE BEEN MADE WITH THE BEST SKATER FRIENDLY FABRIC ON THE MARKET AND ARE DUE FOR RELEASE SOON.  

         

Meerkat Grind Skate Hall of Fame

This is a public service announcement- to all street skaters world wide. Meerkat Grind is working on a project from Wednesday 11 of July to the first of August which will give skaters a chance to enter the Meerkat Grind Hall of fame photo collage. Skaters will then have an opportunity to have them posted on the company’s Instagram page.

The Campaign

• Skaters must email us pictures of them shredding the Gnarliest trick they could think of.
• Skaters should email the photo in Jpeg image format.
• The Campaign will comprise of two segments, July and August. Further information about the August leg will be given.
• Skaters have a better chance of being inducted if they follow the blog. http://www.meerkatgrind.blogspot.com/
• This collage will also be posted on the company’s you-tube channel which will be created after enough footage is collected.

Summer collection and grind range

As the freshest and coolest skate clothing label we are proud to announce that we will be dropping our summer range soon later on this year. Meerkat grind is striving for perfection in this goal that has been set for summer 2012. These are the types of gear we as Meerkat grind specialise in. costs have not been stipulated yet but we encourage our fans to stay posted on twitter and on our blog.

MEERKAT GRIND CLOTHING TAKING ON SOUTH AFRICA

The South African skateboarding industry is rapidly growing. From Cape Town to Johannesburg and Durban to Kimberley (which is the skate origin city). Such development is because of the growth of interest not only in South Africa but in the Southern Hemisphere. To create this foundation phase in South Africa a skateboard clothing company called Meerkat Grind is said to be the organisation which will keep this movement blossoming. This company strives to create a skate culture in South Africa and maybe even Africa as a whole.

“We want to establish ourselves as the biggest ambassadors for skate clothing and apparel in South Africa” said Thabang Mathapo and Tebogo Boloko, founders and official directors of the company. This will not just become a clothing line of t-shirts and skateboards but it will also become a state of mind in the skate street culture of our target audience. We want our brand to create a symbolic appearance for skateboarding in South Africa, the African continent and hopefully the Southern Hemisphere.

We would also like to position ourselves growing the industry by sponsoring events, skaters, competitions and also working with other brands across the border to help facilitate our quality of hosting events in South Africa. Our t-shirts are dropping soon later this year and will range in different colours and sizes. Our designers are experienced and are enthusiastic on the feedback from the public. We are also open to work with other investors that might have ideas on taking the brand abroad.
